Backer kit surveys! Pinup reveal! Pre-order!
11 months ago – Wed, Jun 14, 2023 at 11:04:32 AM

Backerkit Survey:

You'll  be receiving a bakerkit survey early next week, most likely Monday, in which we'll verify your address, etc, and you'll have a last opportunity to add-on any remaining add-ons as well, so keep an eye out for that.

Pinups, & More Pinups!

The above gorgeous drawing is by Pittsburgh based artist Timothy Aymar, and is only one of 12 (!) pinups that will be featured in the pinups section of Tinseltown: Losing the Light. Also now unlocked and included will be pinups by David Moreno, Dwayne Harris, Rick Geary & Rafael Navarro!

Pre-Order:

For anyone who missed out on the Kickstarter, the Tinseltown: Losing the Light - Director's Cut graphic novel is available to pre-order HERE.

Another Cool Kickstarter:

Simone & Ajax: What's Black & White and Read All Over?

Here's a cool Kickstarter I just backed by Tinseltown pinup artist Andrew Pepoy. It's a collection of the early years of "The Adventures of Simone & Ajax," the wacky adventures of a girl and her dinosaur pal. Andrew is an Eisner and Inkwell-award winner and Hugo and Harvey-nominated creator/writer/artist, and you may know him  for my work on Fables, The Simpsons, The X-Men, Red Sonja, Doctor Who, Archie, Sonic the Hedgehog,  and many more comics for DC, Marvel, IDW, Dark Horse, Archie, and others, but this book is his own creation and his favorite. Check it out here.

Backer Payment/Errored Backer Update
12 months ago – Fri, Jun 02, 2023 at 12:01:16 PM

95.1% of pledges have already been successfully processed via Kickstarter.

Still that leaves 13 backers whose pledges have errored.

This is a simple fix, and usually means your credit card info with Kickstarter is not up to date.

To update your payment information, simply log into Kickstarter and update your account.

(Kickstarter will also send you an email to fix this.)

Please resolve those pledges ASAP, so we can get you your rewards without delay.

We Did It! Thanks to You! It's Not Too Late to Pre-order Tinseltown: Losing the Light!

Thank You, One and All!

The final tally was this: 264 backers pledged $10,202 to help bring this project to life. I just want to say thank you to each and every one of the 264 wonderful souls who plunked down their hard earned cash to bring Tinseltown: Losing the Life to life. I am truly overwhelmed and humbled by the tremendous support this project has garnered. Now, I'll take a deep breath, and a nap, and then get to work bringing it life, and getting it into each and everyone of your hands as soon as possible.

What's Next:

You will be charged by Kickstarter. Then in approximately 2 and a half weeks you will receive a reward survey from Backerkit's Pledge Manager, so that we have your correct address and email to get you all of your stuff!

Oh, no! I Missed It!

If you meant to back the campaign but never got around to it, or found out about it too late, fear not! You can still Pre-order both books in the Tinseltown graphic novel series, as well as some of the other items offered in the Kickstarter HERE.

That's me, at Golden Apple Comics yesterday with the Tinseltown cake, about to put a whole new meaning to the words "Director's Cut," to celebrate you all making this my most backed and highest funded Kickstarter to date. Thanks again to everyone that helped bring this project to life. It truly means the world to me.

Cheers,

David Lucarelli

Final Day of the Kickstarter! Double check your Rewards! Celebrate at Golden Apple & On Streamyard tonight!
12 months ago – Wed, May 31, 2023 at 11:20:41 AM

Thanks to 225 tremendous backers we are now 111% funded and only 46 bucks away from meeting our next stretch goal of an additional pinup by Rafael Navarro in the graphic novel, and the Digital Indie Comics Bundle for all backers. Note:  The Kickstarter ends at 8:00 AM PT June 1st!

Now might be the time to look over your pledge one last time and see if you want to upgrade to a higher level or add-on any additional items.

If you're new to Tinseltown and backed to receive Tinseltown: Losing the Light graphic novel:

  • You can add on or upgrade to receive Tinseltown: Vol. 1-Director's Cut  the first graphic novel in the series so you have the complete series!

If you like enamel pins or exclusive t-shirts:

  • We have a three pin set, and two t-shirt designs to choose from in sizes Small to 5x Extra large!

If you have the complete Tinseltown series:

  • Take a look at the OTHER series artist Henry Ponciano and I do. The Children's Vampire Hunting Brigadeis a coming of age Gothic adventure that's been called "A punk rock Buffy set in Scotland," that was inspired by the real life Gorbals Vampire Incident. While it may seem quite different than Tinseltown on the surface, both books are about people trying to find their place in worlds that are at best indifferent, and at worst openly hostile to their very existence! In other words, if you like Tinseltown, you'll probably enjoy the Brigade too!

If you live in the L.A. area, please join me to celebrate the success of our Kickstarter at Golden Apple Comics. I'll be there from 3-7 p.m. with a custom made Tinseltown cake from Hansen's Bakery while it lasts. If you've never had their cakes, they are rock star level great!

I'll be Livestreaming tonight from 10pm to midnight with co-host Pat Jankiewicz. David Lucarelli will take you on an in depth look at the making of Tinseltown, all the reward levels, and what's to come. You can join us on YouTube HERE.

Another Cool Kickstarter:

Martin Shapiro's Chopper is an adaptation of his comic of the same name, to a short horror film. It's billed as Sons of Anarchy meets Nightmare on Elm Street, and looks like a lot of fun!

Finally, here's a lot at some more comics that are part of the almost unlocked Indie Comics Digital Bundle, all of which feature strong female protagonists that should appeal to fans of Tinseltown's Officer Abigail Moore:

The Last Ember #0

"It has happened before, long ago. Now here, one final time, it happens again..."

Ember is an ordinary teenage girl with ordinary teenage problems. Until one fateful date, her entire world changes, and something deep down inside of her - something she never knew existed - comes to the surface. That is the day that the fire started.

Now, Ember must try to understand what is happening to her and why. Unbeknownst to her, it has all happened before, and she is the last in a long line of Icons to possess these abilities. Her life is about to get much more complicated

Cool Quote by Tony Isabella! First Stretch Goal Achieved! Second Revealed!
12 months ago – Sun, May 28, 2023 at 03:37:07 PM

Thanks to 204 wonderful backers we are currently 106 % funded with 3 days and change to go!

I  grew up reading Tony Isabella's weekly column in The Comic Buyer's  Guide, so the fact that he agreed to write the introduction to  Tinseltown: Losing the Light means a lot to me.

Tinseltown: Losing the Light will now feature an additional pinup by artist David Moreno. At $9000 we'll feature an additional pinup by Rafael Navarro, and a free Digital Indie Comics Bundle, featuring 6 indie comics including these two that I think will appeal to fans of the "noir" aspects of Tinseltown:

Broke Down And Four Dead Bodies Issue #1 by writer Travis Gibb and artist Felix Novara
After years of being on the bottom, Randy and Denver are finally on their way to being “Made Men”. Someone had other plans and now a simple drop has them broke down on the side of the road with four dead bodies.

Silent Knight #1 by writer : George O'Connor. artist DaFu Yu and colorist Lesley Atlansky

When not making toys for the good girls and boys, Santa Claus is a private detective, using his Santa-powers to help find lost children. But his good deeds have caught the attention of some naughty people, and if they have their way, this might be a year without Santa Claus.
